The sizes range from 4 to 6 inches and the color may vary based on the color of the clay with which it is made. Each one is a replica of a jug found in an ancient site in Judea and is made today by a potter using the same techniques and methods as 2000 years before. Each is made from native clay in the Holy Land. There are variations in the mouth opening size and handle placement of these jugs.
These pottery pieces are true replicas. They are not glazed just as the original jugs were not glazed. While the ancients used them as is, it is not recommended today that we drink liquids from them due to their porosity. However, liquids may be placed in them for demonstration purposes.
