The symbol of the fish has been associated with Christianity since the very beginning.  It was used as a secret code scratched into doorways of homes to let other Christians know that believers lived there.  The Greek word for fish is Icthus.  This is an anacrostic for Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior.  The sign of the fish paperweight has the name of Jesus carved inside.  It is a solid piece of olive wood.  This paperweight was made in the Holy Land from native olive tree prunings.   Each paperweight is unique due to the variations in the olive wood.
